Bereavement counselling cheltenham

Bereavement and loss

Bereavement and loss is crushing to experience and impossible to understand the different feelings that accompany it.

When bereavement is from tragic circumstances the bereaved suffers loss and trauma. Anger, bewilderment, despair, fear, hopelessness. Other areas of your life may become challenged; close relationships, your faith (if you have one), working life, family stability etc. Bereavement through suicide or homicide can result in some particular feelings attached to those tragedies.

– All consuming

The impact of bereavement can be all consuming; its tragedy extending into every area of your life. For some it may be difficult to give expression to those feelings; for others the shock may make it impossible to release feelings of grief.

The significance is such that recovery is inevitably painful. It involves expressing the feelings associated with loss. This takes time and courage; the importance of allowing you space for your feelings to be felt, spoken and given release cannot be exaggerated. Your feelings may include regret for things said or not said; the relationship you longed for but never had; or elements of relief and guilt.

In providing counselling I intend that will find a warm space for you to express yourself. As such this will give way for your loss at a pace helpful to you; eventually you may become more adjusted to your changed life as we look at how life might begin to work again in your future.
