Depression in Children – Depressing Reading

May 5, 2015

Research, statistics and newspapers constantly tell us in headline language that depression among children from as young as 5 is increasing significantly year on year.

I believe that this is hardly surprising when set alongside the statistics for single parent families. poverty among that group, divorce and the breakdown of the family unit.

A child’s greatest fear is to lose the stability of a loving home and, as a baby, not to have experienced love in the first place.

The baby and child finds that fear becomes a way of life.  The poor devastated child will turn to all kinds of strategy’s to attract attention and endorsement or just attention in the worst cases.

One in 5 adults suffers from anxiety and as many as 10% of all adults are clinically depressed.  This is a generational problem that can only be self perpetuating and needs breaking into and understanding.
