Low self confidence stops the ability to fulfill your true potential; and to make the most of the unique personality and skills you were born.

In some ways low self confidence is closely related to low self esteem and sufferers from one may well find that they suffer from the other. Perhaps you find your performance varies depending on the personalities of other people and the environment. In situations where people are encouraging, you may feel confident and comfortable. Alternatively in more challenging situations you may find it impossible to get the words out; something inside you is saying you are wrong or will be judged negatively. You may try to keep proving yourself to others rather than believing in your own abilities.

As such these powerful and undermining messages prevent you fulfilling what is good in your life. Is it any wonder that life becomes a misery?  In turn life itself becomes restricted and you do not achieve what you deserve. You make wrong decisions under pressure which affects your future. These may include your job, relationship, sexuality, faith, lifestyle etc.

The source of low self confidence will stem from unhealthy messages received in early life. From a variety of sources at home, relations, school, friends, authority figures and others. You may have once been confident but received a battering in later years from other forms of an abusive relationship.
